DIRECTOR TARSEM SINGH’S VISUALLY-STUNNING EPIC ACTION ADVENTURE IMMORTALS SELLS MORE THAN ONE MILLION UNITS IN ONE WEEK

    03.16.2012

(Beverly Hills, Calif.) March 16, 2012 – Relativity Media and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announced today that Immortals has sold more than 1.2 million units in its first week of release on Blu-ray and DVD, making it the best action title released so far this year based on conversion. Blu-ray represented 44% of retail sales and the 3D Blu-ray combo pack consisted of 10% of retail sales.

Immortals became Relativity’s highest-grossing film to date as an independent distributor, taking in approximately $227.6 million worldwide and was one of three No. 1 openers for the company (including Limitless and Act of Valor). The epic action-adventure film kicked off the home entertainment release with a themed event at the renowned Playboy Mansion. “Be Immortal” blood drives were also held across the country.  The blood drives took place on thirty college campuses through a partnership with America’s Blood Centers.  The initiative was successful in reaching young people and encouraging them to help save lives, while also getting a chance to preview the Blu-ray special features.

“We could not be more proud of Immortals’ performance and appeal as it was a break-out box office hit theatrically worldwide, and has also found success in home entertainment” said Relativity’s Co-President, Tucker Tooley. “The Blu-ray of Immortals truly captures the excitement and drama of Tarsem’s gorgeous film.”

From the producers of 300, Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari, and Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh, and written by Charles Parlapanides and Vlas Parlapanides, Immortals explodes off the screen with action-packed battles, mythological adventure and an all-star cast including: Henry Cavill (Superman: Man of Steel), Luke Evans (Robin Hood), Kellan Lutz (Twilight), Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Stephen Dorff (Public Enemies), Daniel Sharman (The Collection), Stephen McHattie (Watchmen), Greg Bryk (A History of Violence), Peter Stebbings (Jeremiah), Alan Van Sprang (Saw III), John Hurt (Hellboy), and Mickey Rourke (Iron Man 2).  The Immortals Blu-ray is chock-full of must-see bonus features including an alternate beginning, two alternate endings, deleted scenes and an amazing graphic novel, creating the ultimate viewing experience at home.
